Evergreen Social PDX is an independent publication and micro-events program that launched in February 2025. Evergreen Social was developed from a shared passion for second and third-spaces, affordable and accessible resources for elders and the folks that support them, and having fun with community.
What does dementia or disability have to do with evergreens?
Evergreen trees thrive year-round, are sturdy and protective and give shelter even in harsh, cold conditions. They can grow and lose branches, but are vastly unchanged over time.
Our bodies can change as we age, but our inherent needs as humans does not. We still need shelter, nourishment, and hygiene care. We still need intimacy and human connection. How we access those things and what they mean for us can shift as we inevitably decline, but the underlying necessity of them is consistent.
Evergreens are representative of the ongoing importance of meaningful moments, love, and living fully regardless of our physical, cognitive and mental health. The need for connection doesn't end even when our body stops cooperating.
Connection is evergreen. Laughter is evergreen. Joy is evergreen. Friendship is evergreen. Love is evergreen. Community is evergreen.

Our dream
The mission of Evergreen Social is to provide a safe, affordable and accessible space for elders and care partners to gather, play and share in order to combat isolation, depression and burnout, and connect folks with supportive resources.
We are not a non-profit, but our goal is not to be a money making machine. We'd love to be able to do this full-time, sustainably, and use surplus profit to continue to grow resources and services for the elders and caregivers out in the community.
We recognize that one-time popup events are not always accessible for elders and care partners due to the constant fluctuations of disability. We hope to one day acquire a space that can be open and available consistently so folks can drop-in whenever they'd like.
Contribute to the dream
Your tips, paid subscriptions and sponsorships help sustain our work, but also serves as fundraising for a bigger vision: a safe and inclusive space for elders with support needs, and their care partners.
